Bosch combines the best features of their +4 plug with the advantages of iridium. The Bosch PlatinumIR Fusion plug fuses iridium with platinum, combining the superior properties of both materials into a single fine wire center electrode. Additionally this plug uses surface air gap technology and 4 yttrium enhanced ground electrodes for both performance and extra long life. The fine wire iridium/platinum center electrode (which is heat fused into the extended ceramic insulator) reduces the voltage necessary to jump the gap as well as reduces quenching. The 4 ground electrode design not only provides multiple radial spark paths, but also the surface air gap design creates optimal exposure of the air/fuel mixture to the enhanced ignition spark. The combination of an iridium/platinum center electrode and the yttrium -enhancement of the ground electrodes even further extends plug life. This plug is designed to give exceptional performance, reach self cleaning temperature faster for quicker starts, smoother acceleration and increased fuel efficiency. |
